Matchbook Whiskey Cabinet

After seeing a friend's Bottle Cap Coffee Table, a client wanted to find a way to incorporate her husband's matchbook collection into a piece of furniture. We found the perfect piece - a liquor cabinet - to highlight the matchbooks as well as provide a separate space for whiskey, other liquors, and glasses while entertaining. The cabinet was painted black to match a majority of the client's existing decor, and the lifting wooden top was stained a rich, dark brown. Matchbooks were flattened to see the images on both sides and attached to the front panels of the doors to give a little sneak peak of what is inside. When you lift the wooden top, matchbooks also cover the prep area below as well as the other two horizontal surfaces. Finally, brass pulls were added to match the rest of the piece's hardware. This piece will become a way for the client to reminisce about places she and her husband have visited by seeing all the various matchbooks on display.
